Green hydrogen is light, storable and emits water as the only waste, playing a fundamental role in the energy transition. It is not a primary energy source, but rather an energy vector, that is, an element that needs energy to be produced. Later, when we use hydrogen, that energy will be released, so it is also said to store energy.

Currently, there are difficulties in using hydrogen massively, related to its storage and transport, lack of infrastructure and the cost of production owever, over the years it is becoming profitable since the cost of electrolyzers has already been reduced by 60% in the last ten years.

This energy source has some points in favor , such as, for example, that it is 100% sustainable, storable, versatile and transportable, but also some points against for example, that it has a high cost, a higher energy expenditure and that it requires high safety requirements to avoid leaks and explosions.

Also, we can consider hydrogen as a sustainable fuel because instead of emitting CO2, they emit water as their only waste. How? With a tank where they store this gas under pressure and when the hydrogen is directed to the fuel cell a chemical reaction occurs that results in electricity that will move the vehicle and water vapor. It is expected that in the long term hydrogen can become an option to decarbonize the aeronautical and maritime sector.
