Industrial self-consumption, the key to increasing company profits

Industrial self-consumption

Solar energy is a renewable and inexhaustible source of energy that we are not yet using to its full capacity. This type of energy is an alternative to the use of non-renewable energies such as fossil fuels and can be brought into the business field through industrial self-consumption.

Industrial self-consumption is that which allows companies to generate and consume their own electricity, through the installation of photovoltaic solar panels, generally located on the roof of an industrial building. As we have many hours of daylight in Spain, this energy is undoubtedly a projection for the future.

More and more companies are realising that switching to renewable energy can provide them with many benefits such as reduced operating costs, improved resilience, as well as improving their public image. At Univergy Solar we have completed industrial self-consumption installations that provide companies with up to €15,000 in annual savings.

There are a number of ways in which companies can take advantage of renewable energy in the form of industrial self-consumption.

Utility-scale photovoltaic systems, power purchase agreements and green energy billing:

Over the years, PV systems have experienced large price drops, so in many cases, some companies are choosing to purchase renewable energy directly through power purchase agreements.

Photovoltaic systems and local storage:

Thanks to tax benefits, local incentives and reduced utility costs, more and more companies are turning to industrial self-consumption, although many are still concerned about the reliability of solar energy, because… What happens when the day is cloudy? Nothing! Thanks to batteries for solar panels, the solar energy produced during the day can be stored and used during the night. This type of system allows companies to overcome voltage dips and the usual short outages.

Microgrids with renewable energy:

A microgrid is a limited geographical area that can operate independently of the electricity grid in times of outage. It is often connected to the larger grid, from which it benefits by providing additional capacity, stabilisation and emissions reductions.

Many companies are realising that implementing microgrids with renewable energy can be cost-effective.

It should also be noted that industrial photovoltaic self-consumption has many advantages, among which we can highlight:

– Savings of more than 60% on electricity bills.

– Access to public subsidies.

– Tax relief on investment.

– Improved brand image.
