“Why invest in Solar Energy?”
OP-ED ARTICLE - UNIVERGY SOLAR | By José Ángel Moreno García, design engineer at Univergy Solar
We live in a constantly changing world. Year after year, there is an upward trend in the demand for electricity both nationally and globally. Moreover, we are going through one of those times when it is important for us to sympathize with the planet and begin to set aside conventional thermal power stations (which are based on fossil fuels), clearing the way for renewable energy plants, for example solar or wind power plants.
Within the European Union, Spain is one of the countries with the highest cost for electricity. In view of this, investing in solar energy is an important concept, that is to say, installing a power self-consumption system, so that we can save some euros on the light bill. At Univergy Solar we have a great team of engineers who carry out excellent studies for every electrical bill, so that you can save the maximum on your light bill:
It is also interesting to see that, since the 70s up to now, the price of the silicon cell has fallen almost exponentially. Today it is 81% cheaper to buy a single-crystal silicon panel than it was 10 years ago. This makes it even more attractive because, with a lower price (and thus requiring less investment), solar power systems increase. For further information, see here.
It also has many benefits, noting for example its versatility, among others; given that, based on a modular system, it can adapt to different situations and especially, because it can produce electricity both on a small as well as large scale, thus obtaining power systems ranging from a few kilowatts to large solar farms that even exceed the installed gigawatt.
In conclusion, investing in a solar energy system can be very profitable, making it possible to obtain the benefits of cheap energy while contributing also to the decarbonization of the planet.
