Univergy Partners sets up in Bilbao to develop renewable projects in the Basque Country
Univergy Partners is established as a subsidiary in the Basque Country to promote the implementation of renewable projects, with Juan Garrido as General Manager.
Bilbao, Madrid, June 29, 2021- The Spanish-Japanese company Univergy Solar announces the creation of Univergy Partners, based in Bilbao, to accelerate the implementation of renewable projects in the Basque Country. At the head of the new company with the aim of promoting clean energy, will be Juan Garrido as CEO, who after more than 20 years leading high performance teams in Investment Banking (JP Morgan, BPI and Santander) in several countries (Spain, Portugal, Mexico and United Kingdom) returns to Bilbao to lead this project.
“The leadership of Univergy Solar in the international field of clean energy, together with the great experience and strategy that the Basque Country has in the energy sector is undoubtedly a formula for success,” says Juan Garrido, Managing Director of Univergy Partners.
Ignacio Blanco, founder, President and CEO of Univergy Solar said: “The new Univergy Partners company based in Bilbao will also contribute to promote important projects in the United States and Mexico markets” Furthermore, says Blanco “Univergy has had a great reception in the Basque Country and soon we will be part of the new Energy Intelligence Center”.
Likewise, Univergy’s Green Hydrogen division has initiated planning for the deployment of six hydrogenerators associated with several hydrogen generation facilities in Spain. “The Basque Country’s strategy regarding the transition to Green Hydrogen is excellent and Univergy Partners will provide full support to local companies,” said Julio Hidalgo, Director of the Hydrogen Division.
Univergy Partners, born with the objective of developing projects aimed at generating 100% green energy, maximizing energy savings for customers, and will have a significant portfolio of projects that will make the company a future leader in the photovoltaic and offshore wind sector in northern Spain.
Founded in 2012, Univergy Solar manages, through its various subsidiaries, a portfolio of 230 solar photovoltaic energy projects under development, with an aggregate capacity of 4 GW between the Spanish mainland, the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands.
